Mexican judge: ‘El Chapo can be extradited to the U.S.’

A Mexican judge ruled on Monday that drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman can be extradited to face charges in the United States. The federal Judiciary Council said the judge agreed that the legal requirements laid out in the extradition treaty between the two countries had been met, Fox News reported.
Last weekend, Guzman was transferred to a high security prison in the border city of Ciudad Juarez. According to Reuters, a senior Mexican security official said the kingpin's extradition was in motion and would happen by mid-year.
