Which undocumented immigrants are most likely to be detained?
A new report shows the top ten populations by nationality.
A BuzzFeed News analysis, published Wednesday, took a look at immigrant deportations across the U.S., and found that Mexicans facing deportation were held in detention centers more frequently than any other nationality.
Here’s each nationality by the percentage of those detained for deportation on noncriminal grounds.
Mexico: 75%
Guatemala: 61%
Ecuador: 57%
Honduras: 49%
India: 48%
Dominican Republic: 47%
El Salvador: 45%
Brazil: 27%
Colombia: 20%
China: 19%
Haiti: 17%
Cuba: 16%
The top six counties in the above ranking roughly coincides with their populations of undocumented immigrants living in the U.S., according to 2012 figures.
