Members of the Independence Hall Tea Party Association held anti-immigration rally outside of the Bourse Building, home to the Mexican Consulate in Philadelphia, on July 18, in support of “National Day of Protesting Against Immigration Reform Amnesty & Border Surge.”

A few yards away, pro-immigration groups such as New Sanctuary Movement of Philadelphia and Juntos held their own counter rally, which included prayer, sharing their immigration experiences and breaking bread. The immigration supporters outnumbered the opposers.

Although some snide remarks were exchanged between some participants of both groups, the rallies were peaceful.
