Last week, Latino Decisions surveyed hundreds of Latino voters from around the country in English and in Spanish and found that the vast majority of voters approve the President’s executive action last week to open the door for more than 4 million undocumented immigrants to apply for legal status.

Around 68 percent of the voters polled said that they strongly supported President Obama’s executive action, while another 21 percent said that they somewhat supported the action, bringing the total support to 89 percent. That’s more than the support that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program had when it was first enacted.

Most (64 percent) Latinos surveyed said that Republicans should take the blame for failing to pass immigration reform, although 24 percent said that Democrats were at fault. Of those surveyed, 80 percent said that they would oppose Republican effort to block the executive action that the president has taken. Even a majority (60 percent) of self-identified Latino Republicans said that they'd oppose a Republican-led effort to block the action.

One in three voters surveyed said that the issue hit close to home because someone in his or her immediate or extended family is living in the U.S. without legal status.

Another poll by NBC and the Wall Street Journal found that Latinos were more divided on the president’s action, but the number of voters surveyed was five times smaller, so the survey had a higher margin of error.
