White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest announced Wednesday that the republican threat to shut down the government won't stop President Barack Obama from taking executive action on immigration.
Two months ago Obama promised to take executive action by the end of summer after House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner informed him that he would not be submitting an immigration reform bill to vote this year.
As the date approaches, Republican senators Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Steve King (Iowa) implied this week that the GOP could protest Obama’s action on immigration while negotiating the budget for federal agencies to be approved by October first.
Back in 2013 the Republicans forced a two week government shutdown in opposition of healthcare reform.
