Members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) urged Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Jeh Johnson, on Friday to expand the deferred action program for ‘dreamers’ in order to include their parents.
This was just one of their recommendations to halt the deportations of undocumented immigrants and the separation of immigrant families.
They also advocated to stop the deportation of undocumented immigrants who would benefit under the reform legislation passed by the Senate last summer.
Last March, President Barack Obama asked Johnson to examine deportation policies, and last month the White House announced that the president would be taking an executive action by the end of summer after House speaker John Boehner informed him that the House would not vote on immigration reform this year.
Meanwhile, Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said on Breitbart News Saturday that the House of Representatives will immediately begin impeachment proceedings if the president enacts more executive actions related to immigration.
