China and India surpass Mexico in sending immigrants to the U.S.

In 2013, China was the country of origin for 147,000 recent U.S. immigrants, India 129,000, and Mexico 125,000.

China and India have surpassed Mexico when it comes to sending immigrants to the United States, according to a Census Bureau study.

In 2013, China was the country of origin for 147,000 recent U.S. immigrants, India 129,000, and Mexico 125,000.

In 2012, Mexico sent 125,000 immigrants.

The analysis of the American Community Survey from 2000 to 2013 was presented Friday at the Population Association of America conference in San Diego.
