Latino and Black graduation rates rising but still lag behind Whites and Asians

High school graduation rates for Latinos and African-American students increased approximately four percentage points from 2011 to 2013, according to new data from the U.S. Department of Education. 

The data was presented by President Obama during a meeting with education leaders from across the country Monday at the White House.  

The overall graduation rate increased 2,4 percentage points to 81.4 percent — the best in the history of the nation.

Among Latinos, the graduation rate increased 4.2 points, to 75.2 percent.

Among African-American, the rate increased 3.7 points, to 70.7 percent.

Despite the increase among Latinos and African-American, the graduation rate among is still higher among Whites (86.6 percent) and Asians (88.7 percent).
