After abruptly being removed as chair of the School Reform Commission (SRC), Bill Green said he was ready to challenge Governor Wolf’s decision in court. Now he’s had a change of heart, The Notebook reported.

Green, who remains on the SRC five-member panel, said he was challenging the action in court because he believed Governor Wolf , who named Marjorie Neff to replace him, didn’t have the authority to remove him. This week Green changed his mind and decided not to follow the legal challenge because “it is not a time for distractions,” The Notebook reported.

“I believe I am correct on the merits, but I will not risk compromising support for the (school) district by pursuing a court action at the same time as the plan’s rollout,” Green stated.

“I do not believe that a lawsuit with the Governor, one that I am told would require me to sue my colleagues and/or Marjorie Neff, is in the best interests of children at this time,” Green said.
