DACA: We're still fighting!
These are the things you need to know about DACA today.
After the president wrote on Twitter on Sunday that the Deferred Action Program (DACA) was "dead", several activists and Latino representatives have turned to social media to spread information about the real status of the protection program for young people who arrived in the country during childhood.
According to the document published by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) preliminary order dated January 2018 states the following:

- The immigration offices will accept certain applications for program renewal, especially those that have expired on or before September 5, 2016. The application must be made through Form I-821D, Form I-765 Application for Employment Authorization and Form I-765WS. If the permit has expired before September 5, 2016, the person must reapply through an initial application, not request the renewal. Individuals must include the expiration date of their permit in Part 1 of Form I-821D.
- USCIS will not accept first applications to the program.
- Provisional travel requests (better known as Advance Parole) will not be accepted. The recommendation of United We Dream is that you don’t leave the country, even if you have previously received permission.
On the contrary, the document does not certify a deadline for the renewal of the program, for which it is recommended to do so as soon as possible.
This temporary relief has been the product of a legal mechanism introduced by a lower court judge, but the Trump Administration has declared that it plans to "vigorously" fight the decision of the district court.
According to United We Dream, the fight continues and the goal is to get a legal solution passed by January 19th. For this, they recommend writing DreamActNow to 877877 to learn how to pressure Congress "to stand on the right side of the history" and find a solution in the coming days.
