Nick Cannon poses in "white face" to promote his upcoming album.

As a publicity stunt for his fourth album called "White People Party Music," Cannon posted a picture of himself on Instagram dressed in "white face."

The America's Got Talent host called his character, Connor Smallnut.

In the photo, Cannon with white makeup and blonde hair, wore false teeth, a blue beanie, a plaid T-shirt and washed out jeans.

Cannon shared the picture of himself as "Conner" and wrote, "It's official..I'm White!!! #Whitepeoplepartymusic in stores April 1st!! Dude go get it, join the party!"

He then added hashtags, #GoodCredit, #DogKissing, #BeerPong, #FarmersMarkets, #FistPumping, #CreamCheeseEating, and #BroIgotdrafted.

Cannon received backlash for the stunt and has been called "racist," "hypocritical," and "not funny."

On his Twitter account, he responded to the criticism by tweeting "duuuude everybody chill-lax!"

He also tweeted, "I didn't know it was hard being White..I'm exhausted with all this 'privilege' LOL #WhitePeopleProblems.

Despite his response, some people still find the character offensive, here are a few reactions posted on his Instagram.

One user wrote, "If a white person painted their face black and made a CD about Black people music, all hell would break loose…what a moron."

"Yikes. This is what your "career" has come to..it's time to move on," one person commented.

"Personally I think it's funny, we all pass judgments and stereotypes every single day. I think people shouldn't take this the wrong way, his wife and kids are white, so it's not coming from a bad place," one user wrote.
