For her latest work, French artist Sylvie Blocher asks one question"Where will you stand?"

The San Antonio Latinos participating in her video piece are asked to place themselves in front of the shade that they think best resembles their own skin color. In an interview with My San Antonio, Blocher revealed that the task elicited emotional and confused responses from her volunteers, who recalled their own experiences with color in their past and present communities.

Blocher's art investigates the societies of her subjects. In a recent work at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the artist recorded intimate moments of volunteers in the community for living portraits. Blocher will explore skin and the Latino community through her upcoming exhibit, 'The Color of Confusion,' which will display at the San Antonio Museum of Art this September.
