Delta now offers GPS pet trackers
Do you worry about your pet while flying? Well one airline is trying to ease your mind.
This week, Delta Air Lines Inc. started offering a pet-tracking device. With this device, Delta customers will be able to monitor their pets in real time. Pet owners will have access to data on their pets’ surrounding temperature and what position the animal is in.
The gadget is good considering Delta has had the most animal deaths among U.S. airlines in the last five years. However, the airline has only had six animal deaths since 2013, according to data from the Transportation Department.
Last year, U.S. airlines reported 17 animal deaths. In 2010, there were 39 reported.
Delta customers who are traveling with their pets can use the GPS pet tracker at airports in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Tampa, Detroit, Cincinnati, Memphis, Minneapolis, Seattle and Salt Lake City.
The device be available for $50 per flight.
