Take LinkedIn, lose the suits and add drums. That’s how you get Cypherr.

Cypherr, the brainchild of Philadelphia native Antonio Srado, is an online professional network to make the ever-saturated, digitized music industry more accessible for both artists and fans. Srado describes his idea as an interactive platform where musicians can identify audiences, get direct feedback from fans, schedule tours and make connections with management in the industry.

“We’re like a LinkedIn meets Soundcloud,” Srado said. “Our main goal is to connect prospects so they can have the opportunity to either make an earning off of music work or reach a potential market.”

As a teenager, Srado was a musician who saw the evolution of technology as both an opportunity and a challenge. More and more, artists were able to reach their audiences, but few could reach the managers that could help them with the business side of music and turn their passion into a career.

Cypherr, due to launch at the beginning of 2015 with an app to follow, will be free with LinkedIn-style premium accounts that give artists the ability to contact industry executives directly.

Music listeners and musicians alike can use Cypherr to browse through artists, rate songs, make playlists and interact with competition. Even negative feedback is good feedback in the music industry, Srado said. The platform is designed to connect listeners to musicians, not to substitute distributors or managers. Instead, Cypherr aims to open the door to potential partnerships with those middle men.

“It ultimately gives the artist the privilege to make their own decisions,” Srado said. “And to map out the way they want to succeed.”
