After months of rumors, the latest major update for iOS 8.3 for iPhone launched on April 8 gives iPhone access to emoji that are more representative of racial diversity.

Firstly, all the emojis that were previously white have been made a generic yellow.  As explained via Twitter by Apple analyst Rene Ritchie after many on social networks denounced that the yellow tone chosen does not represent Asian community, the yellow emoji does not represent any skin tone. It is the color used by default; something similar to that which occurs with the characters of The Simpsons series or Lego toys.

On the other hand, now the users are able to choose among different skin tones for their emojis.

Although for now only iPhone include new diverse emojis, they are expected to be available in other mobile operating systems soon.
