Mayor Michael Nutter has a few things left on his agenda before he leaves office next January, and one of them is promoting an "age-friendly" city.

In partnership with the Commission on Aging and AARP Pennsylvania, the mayor's office has released a city-wide survey to address issues of "Philadelphia’s age-friendliness and livability, such as safety, transportation and housing."

Statewide, the senior citizen population has boomed by almost 9 percent since 2010. But Philadelphia remains a particularly young city, with just 12 percent of residents over the age of 65, according to 2010 census data. Moreover, with the surging newcomer and millennial populations in the city, issues specific to senior citizens are often not given public spotlight.

The survey is available online here. It takes between five and ten minutes to complete. If you know anyone with limited internet access, physical copies are available at Free Library locations across the city. All surveys should be completed by the end of September 2015.
