A Philly sandwich shop wants to bring all the Catholic boys to the yard with a special milkshake.
Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Family and the one in charge of organizing Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia in September, helped unveil a special milkshake at the Center City location of Potbelly Sandwich Shop chain.
The special edition milkshake was created in hopes of raising money for the World Meeting of Families conference this year.
Archbishop Paglia and students of St. Peter the Apostle School in Philadelphia tasted three Philadelphia-themed milkshakes and selected one to be the official milkshake for the conference. The three shakes were “World Meeting Mashup” (vanilla ice cream with Oreo crumbles and Shortbread butter cookies), “#PopeInPhilly” (vanilla ice cream and Shortbread butter cookies) and “PHL Liberty Bell” (vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup. peanut butter and bananas). “#PopeInPhilly” ultimately won the heart and taste buds of Archbishop Paglia and the students.
The “#PopeInPhilly” special shake will only be offered at the three Philly region Potbelly locations from April 1 - September 30, 2015. Fifty cents from each sale of the shake will be donated to benefit the planning of the World Meeting of Families – Philadelphia 2015 and Pope Francis’ visit.
