Philly is continually becoming more bike friendly, now thanks to plans for a new bike parking facility.

According to a blog post from the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, a SEPTA representative recently announced plans to create a new bike parking space in SEPTA’s South Broad concourse.

Becky Collins, SEPTA's Strategy and Sustainability Planner, announced the plans last weekend at the Philly Bike Expo. The bike parking will be enclosed in a secure, covered cage. Cyclists will be able to lock their bike with their own lock. The parking facility will be accessible by using a SEPTA key card (available in 2015).

Collins also announced that SEPTA hopes to have a bike mechanic available during the week to do repairs “for a very small fee.”

The new bike parking in Philly is modeled after Boston's Pedal and Park cages, which include “security cameras, lighting and a police intercom system."

No information has been released yet regarding how much many bikes the Philly facility will hold, or how much it will cost to park your bike.
