Forty four percent of Latinos in Philadelphia live in poverty in comparison to the national average of 23.5 percent, according to an analysis published Sunday by the Philadelphia Inquirer, based on results of the 1013 American Community Survey made public last month.

Latinos have the highest poverty rate in six of the eight counties, with Delaware topping the list with 37.4 percent, followed by Camden County with 31.9 percent. 

According to the news organization, the difference between Latino poverty rates in Philadelphia and in the nation is groped by country of origin.

Cubans in the United States have the lowest poverty rate and most of them live in Florida.

In Philadelphia, most Latinos are from Puerto Rican descent. 

The city of brotherly love is also home to an increasing number of Dominicans, while many Central American immigrants have been moving to Camden.

Asians in Philadelphia have the second-highest rate of poverty (33.7 percent), followed by African Americans (29 percent) and whites (18.7 percent).
