Fernando Treviño, deputy executive director of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant and Multicultural Affairs (MOIMA), gave his two week notice to Mayor Nutter in order to work on the campaign of mayoral hopeful Ken Trujillo.

Yesterday we received an email from Treviño informing us that January 23 will be his last day at MOIMA.

Later in the day,Trujillo’s campaign confirmed exclusively for AL DÍA that Treviño will become its political director, starting Jan. 26.

"It has been a great privilege to work for the Mayor's Office of Immigrant and Multicultural Affairs, and I would only leave for a candidate like Ken Trujillo”, said Treviño to AL DÍA. “Ken shares my vision of what Philadelphia should be. As a self-made small business owner, city solicitor, federal prosecutor, and leader at Congreso, Ken has shown he has the skills and unique perspective necessary to strengthen our schools and create opportunities in every neighborhood. I look forward to working with him on a campaign that puts Philadelphia first."

Treviño helped launch MOIMA in March 2013 and worked to make Philadelphia a more welcoming city for immigrants along MOIMA’s Executive Director, Jennifer Rodriguez.

Previously, Treviño was state director for an initiative known as Operation Vote in the reelection campaign of Barack Obama.

He has also worked with the National Council of La Raza and Democracy USA.
