Congreso de Latinos Unidos, the largest Latino-serving nonprofit in tri-state area, held its Ninth Annual Gala Latina in the grand ballroom of the Hyatt at the Bellevue on March 21.
The annual event, which celebrates the culture of a different Latin American city or country each year, chose Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras for this year’s gala theme.
Congreso partnered with the University of Pennsylvania’s Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology, who worked on the archaeological site of Copán, to create an authentic experience for guests.

To match the theme, replicas from the Copán Ruins, Altar Q and the Dazzler were on display, guests ate Honduran tamales and conch soup, Grupo Folklorico Raices Hondurenas performed, and Honduran Ambassador Jorge Alberto Milla Reyes spoke at the gala.
Guests were also given a bag of Café Copán, which was imported from Honduras.
