After 58 days in sanctuary in a church in North Philly, Honduran immigrant Angela Navarro won her final deportation case.

The organization New Sanctuary Movement posted the following message on their Facebook page around 5 p.m. Wed. Jan. 14: “VICTORY! After 58 days in sanctuary, ANGELA NAVARRO WON HER CASE AGAINST HER FINAL DEPORTATION ORDER! Thank you to the thousands of people who supported the campaign!”

Supported by that organization, Navarro entered into sanctuary on Nov. 18 at West Kensington Ministry, vowing not to leave the church until her case was resolved. “We will have to wait. We are here to wait as long as is necessary. Being locked in is better than living in fear. This is not as bad,” Navarro said to AL DÍA last November.

New Sanctuary Movement is planning a march opposing deportations Jan. 17 which will start at West Kensington Ministry (2140 N. Hancock) at 11 am.
