Franklin Square Electrical Spectacle Holiday Light Show

Nov. 13 - Dec. 31

The free show, inspired by Benjamin Franklin’s imagination, displays a 12-foot-tall kite and kite sculptures made of more than 50,000 lights. The spectacle is accompanied by music of the Philly POPS. Franklin Square will also feature a holiday festival that includes various activities such as a winter beer garden, a holiday market, and family-friendly programming. More info.

 

Reading Terminal Market Holiday Railroad

Nov. 28 - Dec. 31

The 500-square foot model railroad display features 14 working train lines that run through miniature depictions of the countryside, a Christmas village and Center City Philadelphia. More info.

 

Holiday Tours at Historic Homes of Fairmount Park

Dec. 3 - 31

The six historic homes of Fairmount Park decorate for the holiday season for visitors on self-guided and guided trolley tours throughout the month of December.  More info.

 

Macy’s Christmas Light Show

Nov. 28 - Dec. 31

Since 1956, visitors have flocked to the Macy’s in Center City to watch the Christmas Light Show. About 100,000 LED lights display snowflakes, reindeers and more to the sounds of the Wanamaker Organ. The show can be seen at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., seven days a week. Also, the third floor of Macy’s holds “Dickens Village,” the 6,000-square-foot walk-through of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol.” More info

 

Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest

Nov. 28 - March 1, 2015

This winter wonderland, created by the Delaware River Waterfront Corp (DRWC), offers light shows, shopping, arcade games, fire pits, a restaurant by Garces Events, and of course, ice skating! More info.

 

A Longwood Gardens Christmas

Nov. 27 - Jan. 11

The garden and conservatory features 500,000 twinkling lights, decorated Christmas trees, thousands of poinsettias, fountain shows, and holiday music performances. More info.

 

Comcast Holiday Spectacular

Nov. 27 - Jan. 1

In the lobby of the Comcast Center in Center City, guests can watch a mini holiday film on the the largest LED screens in the world. The show features various holiday scenes and computer generated animations. Each 15-minute shows runs every hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (no 5 p.m. shows during the week). More info

 

Pennsylvania Ballet Presents “George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker”

Dec. 6 - 31

Join the Pennsylvania Ballet for their presentation of “George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker” at the Academy of Music. This year is the 46th year of the Philadelphia holiday tradition, which attracts more than 50,000 people each year. More info.

 

A Very Furry Christmas at Sesame Place

Select dates from Nov. 22 - Dec. 31

Celebrate the holidays with family-friendly activities along with your favorite Sesame Street characters. The amusement park gets into the holiday spirit with festive lights and decorations as well as special Christmas shows, the new Cookie’s Monster Land and a visit with Santa in his Furry Workshop. Christmas Village in Love Park

Shoppers can visit the German-style outdoor market to find the perfect gift like handcrafted jewelry, clothing, fine art, food, and Christmas ornaments from Germany, Mexico, Egypt, Ukraine, and Russia from more than 60 vendors. Guest can also enjoy food and drinks, such as Bratwurst, mulled wine and gingerbread, and watch performances by local musicians. More info.

 

Christmas Spectacular by the Philly POPS

Dec. 6 - 20

Families can enjoy the holiday musical show at the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts that features more than 300 musicians, local choirs, Broadway vocalist Hugh Panaro, and conductor David Charles Abell. More info.
 

Holiday Light Show at Shadybrook Farm

Nov. 22 - Jan. 4

Experience the sight of millions of twinkling lights during a car, open-air tractor or horse-drawn carriage ride at Shadybrook Farm. Each vehicle to view the light show is available on various days for various prices. More info

 

Holiday Garden Railway at Morris Arboretum

Nov. 28 - Jan. 5

The outdoor, quarter mile track features 15 different rail lines, two cable cars, nine bridges and seven loops and tunnels for the model trains to run through. On Dec. 19 and 26, guests can watch model trains whiz through the light-strung miniature holiday village for their special Friday Night Lights exhibit. More info

 

Christmas at Peddler’s Village

Nov. 27 – Dec. 28

Peddler’s Village, in Bucks County, includes 70 specialty shops for holiday shopping. During the holiday season, the village is offering extended shopping hours. From now until Jan. 3, visitors can see gingerbread house displays at the Peddler’s Village Gazebo  as part of the annual Gingerbread House Competition. More info.
