After a long and expensive construction process, local officials are ready to unveil the new Dilworth Park, a sustainable green project set to offer new amenities, programming, and improved access to transit.

From 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Center City District has programmed a day of celebration with talent from neighborhoods across the city.

Mayor Michael Nutter will be join by several state and local officials during the ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., including Paul R. Levy, president and CEO, Center City District; Congresswoman Allyson Y. Schwartz; Matthew Welbes, executive director, Federal Transit Administration; Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor Jim Cawley; SEPTA General Manager Joseph M. Casey, and City Council President Darrell L. Clarke.

The inauguration will be followed by an all-day community arts and culture festival featuring local talent; a picnic on Friday with lunch available for sale and drinks from 5 to 7 p.m, as well as a family event for kids next Saturday.

The new park will link the Avenue of the Arts with the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and connect the office district with Market East destinations. It will provide new distinctive entrances to SEPTA’s trains and trolleys and make both the Market Street Line and the subway-surface lines accessible by elevator.
