Breaking ground at Stinger Square

Mayor Michael Nutter and Councilman Kenyatta Johnson joined members of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Philadelphia Water Department, and Fairmount Park Conservancy in breaking ground  on renovations at Stinger Square Park at 3200 Dickinson. The total cost of the project is $505,000 and will include concrete replacement, replant entry beds, plant rain garden, refurbished seating, insertion of new games tables and new trees for shading, and removal of dead trees.

Also in attendance at the event were: Michael Diberardinis, deputy mayor for Environmental and Community Resources; Susan Slawson, first deputy commissioner for Recreation and Programs; Mark Focht, first deputy commissioner for Parks and Facilities; Howard Neukrug, Philadelphia Water Department commissioner; Drew Becher, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society president and Kathryn Ott-Lovell, Fairmount Park Conservancy executive director.
