Time for "Mexit"?
President-elect Donald Trump has promised to make America great again and Mexico smaller. "Mexit" is coming, reports El País.
After "Brexit", now it's time for "Mexit".
But while Brexit was the result of sovereign decision made by the British people, in the case of Mexico, the situation is exactly the opposite, since we are not talking about a country's voluntary departure from an area of economic integration, but about an unilateral expulsion of one partner, Mexico, at the hands of another, the U.S, reports El País.
Although President-elect Donald Trump says he wants to renegotiate the currant trade deals to get more favorable conditions for the U.S; he has accused Mexicans of thieves, individually and collectively, and threats with constructing border walls and high trade tariffs.
Trade between the two countries, which had a volume of $ 80 billion in 1992, now stands at $ 506 billion, six times higher, accounting for six million jobs in the United States and over 30,000 direct jobs in Mexico. Is Mexit coming?
