A new peace deal was signed yesterday between the Colombian president, Juan Manuel Santos, and the chief of the guerrillas, Rodrigo Londoño. The deal comes two months after Colombians voted "No" in a Referendum to decide wether to sign a peace with the FARC or not.  The “No” supporters are led by the expresident, Álvaro Ubide, in a sign of a political division among the political elite in the country. As reported today in El País (Spanish) and The Guardian (English).
Read an interview with a former Colombian guerrillera, Andrea Alfonso, 18, who voted “yes” in the referendum for a peace deal, despite being witness of the violence and abuses of the paramilitary. “In my land, when you are teenager, wether you end up being a mum or you decide to join a guerrilla group. And I didn’t want to become a mother so young”, she said in a recent interview with Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
