Sorry to say, but your dog doesn’t care what you have to say.

According to a study published in the journal "Behavioural Processes," dogs prefer physical contact, such as petting, over being talked to.

Researchers observed both shelter and “owned” dogs in multiple stages of the study. Shelter dogs were tested with strangers, while owned dogs were tested with their owners. The dogs received alternating periods of petting and vocal praise, vocal praise and no petting, and only petting for eight three-minute sessions.

It was determined that the dogs spent more time with people who were petting them. The study also showed that dogs displayed just as little interest in being talked to as no interaction at all.

Looks like all you dog lovers have to find someone else to talk to.
