Have you ever wondered how much the gifts in the “12 Days of Christmas” song would actually cost? Well the answer is way too much.
For the past 31 years, the PNC Wealth Management Christmas Price Index survey has determined the cost of the items in the “12 Days of Christmas.” This year, the total cost of the gifts mentioned in the song is $27,673, if purchased in stores. This is an increase of almost $300 from last year’s cost. If the gifts are purchased online, the cost would be $42,959, an increase of 8 percent from last year.
If a buyer wanted to purchase the items each time they were mentioned in the song (the verses are constantly repeated), they would spend a total of $116,273.
Here is the list of prices from PNC Wealth Management:
A partridge in a pear tree: $207.68
Two turtle doves: $125
Three French hens: $181.50
Four calling birds: $599.96
