German beer billboard uses facial recognition to attract women
Some billboards in Germany just got cooler...and slightly creepy.
A new billboard in Germany by German beer brand Astra, uses facial recognition technology to advertise specifically to women
The goal: to get more more women to try beer.

The billboard uses a built-in camera and facial recognition software to determine the gender of who is looking at the ad. Once it figures out the viewer, the billboard shows one of more than 70 videos featuring German comedian Uke Bosse. If the viewer is a woman, Bosse encourages you to try an Astra. If the viewer is a man, or anyone under the age of 16 (Germany’s legal drinking age), you’re told to walk away.
Obviously, facial recognition software isn’t 100 percent perfect, so there are bound to be hiccups.
