THE RECEPTION

For a second consecutive year, the AL DÍA Foundation was the host, this time alongside a select committee of Latino leaders of the City, and the only reception of PA Society in which Latino leaders were the hosts, not just the mere invitees. PA Society is a tradition that began more than a century ago, in 1899, which brings together leaders from all of Pennsylvania State to New York City each December. In their long history, this is the first time that the Latino community reaches a visible presence in a traditional celebration, now with its own reception. Not only did the mayor of Philadelphia, but also CEOs, corporate leaders, and State Government staff members, become enthusiasts of “Pennsylvania Leaders Connection” in the Hotel Hilton of Midtown Manhattan.

The event was an authentic representation of the diverse demographic makeup that The City of Philadelphia and the State of Pennsylvania has elevated in the past few decades. “This event is an authentic sampling of the new diverse fabric of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania and I'm so proud that we're all here together tonight celebrating that diversity.” said the owner of AL DÍA, Hernán Guaracao. “Together, we are here supporting the emergence of the Latino demographic all across Pennsylvania and ensuring the Latino voice is included and heard in the most important decision making halls in our State,” he said.

Prior to and following his speech, there were more than two hours of “networking” amongst more than 150 people that attended the reception, initially programmed for only 75 people!

THE GUESTS

Other than the mayor, Jim Kenney-- who stayed for more than an hour for an animated chat --important figures such as the CEO of “Citizens Bank”, Daniel Fitzpatrick, the Executive Vice President of Comcast, David Cohen, the Chairman of Independence Blue Cross, Walter D’Alessio, who came accompanied by his wife, Barbara Chance, CEO of “Change Management.” Also present were Matthew Cabrey, Executive Director of Select Philadelphia, Julie Coker Graham, CEO of Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, and David Boardman, Chairman of The Lenfest Institute and The Dean of Communications at Temple University.

On Wells Fargo’s side, which helped fund and serve as a patron of “Pennsylvania Leaders Connection”, came executives Aldustus Johnson, Jim Baum, and Tiffany Tavarez.

Tiffany Tavarez, along with Gabriela Guaracao, CEO of Americae, were in charge of organizing the successful event.

The rest of the “host committee”, which aided them in their event planning duties, was composed of Bonnie Camarda, Carolina Cabrera DiGiorgio, Luis Cortés, Nelson Diaz, Cynthia Figueroa, Varsovia Fernandez, Rómulo Diaz, Ana Flores, Farah Jimenez, Priscilla Jimenez, Marcos Lopez, Richard Negrin, Yvette Nuñez, Antonia Villarruel, Nilda Ruiz, Dyana Williams, Tiffany Newmuis, Sharmain Matlock-Turner, Charisse R. Lillie, and Lauren Craig.
