It’s true that before this week’s FIFA corruption scandal many had spoken out against the organization’s lack of transparency and poor ethics. But no one had managed to describe  the despicable inner workings of soccer’s governing body quite like comedian John Oliver.

Today FIFA was the top headline across the world after seven of its senior officials were arrested on Wednesday in Zurich and face serious charges of corruption and possible extradition to the United States. Oliver’s video was broadcast last year, a week before the opening of events at Brazil’s World Cup but touches upon the problems that plague the organization.

The comedian starts out with the “sausage principle” — if you love something, never find out how it was made. Throughout his monologue Oliver describes FIFA as a comically grotesque organization, citing the ridiculous amounts of money they take from hosting countries; the funny business behind figuring out who would host of the 2022 cup,  even the “cartoonishly evil” boardroom at their headquarters.

“By this point I hope I’ve proven to you that FIFA is just appalling. and yet here’s their power: I am still so excited about the World Cup,” Oliver concludes.
