Real Madrid’s bargaining position has been compromised because of the current transfer ban that prevents any new players to join the club for the next two transfer periods.

In 2013, Ronaldo’s transfer to Real Madrid was at an unheard-of $132 million dollars, which was the most expensive futbol transfer ever. Although it is very rare to offer a player in his 30’s one of, if not, the highest contract in the game, his record in La Liga speaks for itself.

Since his transfer from Manchester United in 2009, he has won the FIFA Ballon d’Or three times, has more goals than any other Madrid player (261), and has led his team to two Champions league titles in the last three campaigns.
