Latino fathers are at a higher risk than whites for experiencing paternal depression during the first five years of parenthood.

 

Symptoms of depression increased by 68 percent among fathers who were 25 years old and lived with their children during the first five years, according to research.

 

Paternal depression affects 5 to 10 percent of fathers, while 10 to 15 percent of new mothers suffer from maternal depression.
