Sofia Vergara, Andy Garcia to Star in 'Bent'
The Colombian actress and the Cuban-American actor will be part of Bobby Moresco's new thriller about a narcotics detective.
Colombian Sofia Vergara and Cuban-American Andy Garcia will star in new thriller "Bent," the Hollywood Reporter reported Monday.
Bobby Moresco, who won the Oscar for co-writing the screenplay for Crash, will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote himself, based on characters created by Joseph O'Donnell.
The story of "Bent" focuses on a discredited narcotics detective Danny Gallagher (Karl Urban), who, upon his release from jail plans to seek revenge on the accuser who framed him and killed his partner.
Vergara will play a ruthless, seductive government agent, who may or may not be on the side of Urban’s character.
Garcia will portray his mentor, a retired cop who’s fought corruption his entire career.
"Karl Urban, Sofia Vergara and Andy Garcia are a powerful on-screen trio that has a rich history to work with thanks to the brilliant plot and characters created by (scriptwriters) Robert Moresco and Joseph O'Donnell," said producer of the film Andrea Iervolino.
"Bent" shooting is expected to begin this month in Rome.
