East Coast Wings & Grill, a North Carolina-based restaurant, recently opened in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. This is the first franchise location in Northeast region of the country.
The restaurant offers 75 different chicken wing categorized as “Asian”, “Bayou”, “Classic”, “European”, “Fusion”, “South BBQ”, “The Islands”, and “Tex-Mex. The flavored wings can be paired with nine different heat intensities (from the Scoville heat scale) ranging from “Virgin” (comparable to a sweet bell pepper) to “Inferno” (comparable to a Habanero pepper).
The six page menu features various items such as freshly sliced potato chips, tacos, sandwiches, salads, and burgers.
New items will be joining the menu in the fall: two extravagant burgers! One is called the “Big Daddy Patty Melt,” and includes two half pound Angus beef patties, bacon, ghost pepper cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, house ranch dressing and 2 grilled cheese sandwiches instead of buns.
The second burger is the “ECW Breakfast Club,” which includes a chargrilled Angus burger, American cheese, bacon, a mini Belgian waffle (yes, a waffle), a fried egg, shredded lettuce, tomato and a side of maple syrup.
The restaurant also has a signature dessert: The Original Cookie Skillet, which includes chocolate chip cookies baked on a skillet and topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. In the fall, more skillet dessert options will be available.
On July 29, in honor of National Chicken Wing Day, ECW is offering six free wings in “America’s favorite flavor: honey BBQ” (as determined by ECW poll) with a purchase of an entree.
