The Philly gallery scene will welcome Spanish artist Fernando Poyatos as he debuts his first solo exhibit in the U.S., “Colors Synopsis,” at the Old City Jewish Arts Center.

Often inspired by intercultural exchange, Poyatos draws upon his personal experience in both Spain and America, as well as upon his professional experience studying the deterioration of artistic media, as well as reverse processes in art, the latter the subject of his dissertation from The Fine Arts University of Granada.

“Colors Synopsis” is a two part experience. Part one catalogues the effects of color on the viewer and the artist. Part two then features chromatic images that demonstrate how abstract and  theoretical physics can be used to develop figurative images, according to the gallery.

The exhibit runs from Sept. 2 to Sept. 30, beginning on Wednesday with an opening reception with the artist from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

For those who can’t make it on Wednesday, the gallery will host a "First Friday" reception from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by Taste of Shabbat, a traditional Shabbat dinner, at 9 p.m.
